Slingball23 event is looming

The 16th annual Slingball Tournament for Multiple Sclerosis is set for June 23-25 at Pacific City.

Slingball is a yard game in which the participant slings a foot-long piece of rope tied to a recycled golf ball at both ends toward a tower (made of PVC pipe) with four crossbars 25 feet away. Points are awarded. First to 21 points wins.

Last year, 150 participants went at it on the 12 courts set up for competition. Through 15 years, coordinators Randy and Carter Neu have raised nearly a quarter-million dollars. Proceeds go to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Portland and National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Oregon chapter.

The event’s sponsor is Cook Solutions Group of Portland through its Cook Community Builders program.
