Next Jerome Kersey book event scheduled for ‘Big E’s’ in Bend

Next stop, central Oregon.

On Thursday Jan. 27, we’ll head to Bend for a 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, book event for “Jerome Kersey: Overcoming the Odds” at Big E’s Sports Bar & Grill (formerly Kelly D’s).

New owner Eric Anderson is hosting the event at 1012 SE Cleveland Square Loop. If you’re in central Oregon that day, stop by, enjoy a libation and some grub and take part in a discussion about the late, great Trail Blazer great. Beginning at about 5:30, I’ll talk about the book project, about Kersey’s life and career, about the Blazers of that era (who twice made it to the NBA Finals) or any era, and answer any questions you may have about Kersey, the book or sports-related topics.

Starters (from left) Buck Williams, Kevin Duckworth (behind Williams), Terry Porter, Jerome Kersey and Clyde Drexler on court during 1992 NBA Finals.

We'll have Kersey books for sale along with copies of "Civil War Rivalry: Oregon vs. Oregon State football" and "Jail Blazers." I will personalize upon request.
