KPTV’s Krupke on the scene for first Schonely book event

Sunday was Bill Schonely night at Moda Center. The legendary broadcaster shared the stage with Damian Lillard, who made his return from injury successful in the Blazers’ victory over Indiana.

It was the public unveiling of Schonely’s new biography, “Wherever You May Be … Now: The Bill Schonely Story.” During pregame and at halftime, Schonely signed about 150 books for admiring fans, whose love for him was evident. “That was a lot of fun,” he told me afterward.

KPTV sports director Nick Krupke — one of the best in the business — did a nice spot on the Schonely event that aired during Channel 12’s 10 p.m. Sunday news hour. Thanks to Nick and photographer Kevin Lund for coming out with a salute to “The Schonz.”
